Product Description
King Grani was born amidst a storm to a mother who was a slave taken from foreign lands. Though he possessed noble blood, both mother and son were long shunned within their clan.
From the cradle, Grani was frail. By his tenth year, he alone among the boys could not lift the clan’s great axe, and for this, they branded him a “cracked clay pot” and he was mocked without end. Fortunately, his humble disposition earned him favor among the sons of lesser nobles in the royal capital.
When he came of age, the old king sent him in exile to the desolate frontier, where he was tasked with restoring the ruined King’s Road. There, he fell into a deep chasm and he beheld the long-buried remnants of the ancient Arche civilization. From that moment on, he was no longer the same man. He grew withdrawn and his days thereafter became consumed by the ruins. He even called himself the heir of Drave the Snake-Eyed.
Some claimed to have seen veiled witches of the coven visiting his chambers, while others whispered that he had been beguiled by the subterranean Xenosians, which would explain his obsession with the ruins. He paid no heed to such rumors.
When conflict with Karsten broke out and the late king ordered him to reinforce the vanguard, Grani halted his forces at the banks of the Sala, refusing to advance. Only after several of his kinsmen’s armies were nearly annihilated did he descend like a storm, laying waste to the enemy and sweeping away all who stood between him and the throne.
In time, the throne was his. He wielded his scepter to impose sweeping reforms and styled himself the Restoration King, destined to restore the light of Arche. Yet even in his triumph, he remained haunted by the thought that others coveted his throne. His growing paranoia drove a wedge between him and his old friends. Guided by the divine radiance of the Ymirus, he became unstoppable in his quest to set the fallen world back on course.
