Product Description
The true adversary of the Duskwolf Royal Guard isn’t the faraway Karsten forces, but rather the Ursus Guard Legion’s Private Guard close by. Never mind the longstanding enmity between House Lodbrok and King Grani, the mere idea of a Duskwolf and Garmr the Beast coexisting together is unthinkable.
Locked in constant competition, when the Private Guard developed the Titan-Arm Sledge, the Royal Guard immediately grew anxious. Then when the Cyclops Walker were later deployed to the battlefield, the growing imbalance could no longer be ignored. The Royal Guard, emboldened by court favoritism, attempted to seize the new technologies outright, only to be met with fierce pushback from Harald. In the end, it took several legion commanders to intervene and convince both sides to share their breakthroughs.
The Valgrind Sentinel was born amid this arms race: a hulking giant with massive arms wielding a high-caliber autocannon and articulated blue steel traction grips integrated into its feet. Its titanium alloy shield and exoskeleton allow it to shift seamlessly between a transport craft and a stationary heavy-fire support unit.
Thanks to the backing of the Archetech Society, the Valgrind Sentinels surpassed most legion units in both maneuverability and firepower, and were granted unrestricted use of Aether energy. Yet ironically, their primary function has remained palace patrol in the capital, far from the front lines. This fact drew the ire of Veckish soldiers and, combined with the Royal Guard’s tarnished reputation, earned them little respect among the city’s populace.
What’s more concerning is that ever since the Royal Guard became involved in the research and development process, successive batches of the Titan-Arm Sledge and of drone units—the Cyclops Walker, in particular—began to exhibit erratic behavior, including malfunctions and even instances of friendly fire. No one can say for certain why. But rumors have a way of spreading.
