Dr. Kotaro Azuma has developed robots called androids, endowed with near-human intelligence and a lack of fear of pollutants, to address environmental pollution and ecological conservation. However, after being electrocuted, the robot BK-1 suddenly rebels, killing Dr. Kotaro Azuma and several scientists and taking control of the other robots. Due to internal unrest and the inability of the human military and police to cope with machines imbued with artificial intelligence, the Anduril Army quickly conquers Japan. Before they begin their global conquest, Dr. Kotaro Azuma's son, Tetsuya Azuma, transforms himself into Casshern to fight against the Anduril Army.
